We left Chiang Dao hitchhiking, without really knowing where we wanted to go. After few minutes waiting we directly had a ride, and few hours and few cars after.. We end up in Mae Salong! The way to reach this village lost in the mountains of the Golden Triangle is just breathtaking. Up and down in the hills, between tea and coffee fields.
The village was created by some chinese militars in the sixties, after that this small community was had to flee from China and then Burma. Today it's a tiny mountain village where you can fast feel home.
We found a really nice guesthouse for 2,50€ for a double room, plus free tea all day long!
After a quite evening, the day afyer we went for a very looooong walk of over 15km through the hills. We walked up and down the hills, crossing villages and fields. In the flat land rice, on the hills tea and coffee. Some kids even guided us into a tea plantation.
We ended this perfect day with a plate of chinese dumplings.
Mae Salong is, for us, one of the mpst beautiful places in the north of Thailand.
