The beautiful minivan we got from the boarder left us 10km away from the city of Luang Nam Tha. This is the rule in Laos, where after the war all the bus stations are built out of the city. Of course this developed also a good business for the tuktuks that are bringing you to the city for a quite expensive price. We decided to hitchhike... And it worked!
That's how we arrived in Luang Nam Tha, a dusty little town just aside a jungle area protected by a national park which is even home of tigers and other crazy animals. With Heiny, our new traveler mate, we decided to rent some scooters and discover the park riding around. Our goal : reach the village of Muang Sing few km away from the Chinese boarder. The ride has been just amazing, km and km surrounded by hills covered with wild jungle. Aside us the Nam Tha (nam means river in lao). The village of Muang Sing was nothing special, but we could enjoyed a typical noodle soup and some fruit shakes. On the way back we stopped to see a waterfall, the occasion to have a walk in the impressive jungle. The way back we drove in the dark, with only light the stars, passing villages without electricity. We were back at 20h and it felt like midnight. But before going to sleep after such an intense day, we stepped at the night market for an amazing lao dinner : fried noodles with vegetables, noodle soup, roasted bananas... Gnam!
