After our beautiful days at the Inle Lake, we decided to lead south and go to Loikaw.
Burma is not Switzerland, and... Our bus was delayed 3 hours! Therefore we had to wait, with no news, in a junction in the middle of nowhere. When the bus finally arrived, it was not exactly how we expected it. What appared to us was a small and creepy minivan, half broken and overfilled with people! But, after 7h of dusty road, we arrived!
The evening turned really nice, it was full moon, and burmese people were partying putting candles everywhere and lighting fireworks. Really beautiful.
But the night turned out not so good when we got awaken by the owner of the guesthouse screaming "smoke smoke!". Yes, the building was filled with smoke! We run outside. If there's a country where you don't want to have a fire problem, that is Burma. No firemen, no police. Just an electrician, arriving by scooter. Nevertheless he foubd the problem, and somehow we succeeded in turning off the fire!
The day after, Loikaw offered us a beautiful day. We chilled at the lake and watched a wonderful sunset from the top of a rocky hill, in a labyrinthic temple. Wow!
But, of course there's a but, tge evening ended with Lukas vomiting all the dinner in the middle of the street.
The day after it was my turn, but we changed location : I spent 3h vomiting on the 17h bus that was bringing us to Yangoon.
Our visit in the mess of the former capital leasted just 12h, and it was probably enough. We had anyway a nice time with some young students we met in a park. We understood how hard were their parents working to give a better future to their kids.
In the evening we arrived 15 minutes too late at our bus, after getting stuck in the traffic for 2h!!! Of course we missed the bus, and had to buy a new ticket! We got so pissed! The day after, anyway, we reached the boarder and left (once again walking) Burma. This country, this crazy country, was not an easy adventure. But Burma, with its contradictions and its problems, showed us another world that we will never forget.
